1.4016 Description

Stainless steel 430 is probably the most popular non-hardenable ferritic stainless steel available. It has good corrosion resistance, heat resistance, oxidation resistance and decorative properties. It is important to note that its corrosion resistance increases when polished or well-polished. All welding must be done at higher temperatures, but is easily machined, bent and formed. It has a higher chromium content compared to grade 409 stainless steel. It is not as corrosion resistant as 1.4301 grade stainless steel, but because 1.4301 is expensive, the alloy is a cost-effective alternative where the cost factor is more important than product life. It is reasonable to expect that the specifications in these standards are similar, but not necessarily identical, to those given in this data sheet.
